Questions we get a lot

Do I need to remove the door to replace the rollers?

Yes. The rollers sit in pockets at the bottom of the moving panel, so the panel has to come out. It takes two people.

Can I use WD-40 on my sliding door track?

It is better not to. Oily products hold dirt and sand. Clean the track and use a dry silicone spray instead.

How do I know which rollers my door uses?

Measure the wheel diameter, the housing width and length, and note the wheel type, then use the Roller Finder or send us photos.

Why does my door lock only when I lift it?

The panel has sagged so the latch sits below its keeper. Raising the rollers usually fixes it.

My sliding door is impact glass. Can I work on it myself?

Cleaning and adjusting are fine. Removing an impact panel is not recommended because of the weight. Use a pro.

How long do sliding door rollers last?

Often 10 years or more inland. Near the coast, standard steel rollers can wear out much sooner, which is why stainless is worth it.

Is it worth repairing an old aluminum slider?

Usually, if the frame is straight and not corroded through. Rollers, seals and locks are inexpensive compared with a new door.

Water collects in my track after rain. Is that normal?

A little, briefly. If it sits or overflows inside, the weep holes are blocked or the track is dirty.

What is a tandem roller?

A roller housing with two wheels instead of one. It spreads the weight and is common on heavy and impact doors.

Can you find a part for a door from the 1980s?

Often, yes. Many older rollers and handles have modern replacements. Send measurements and photos.
