Sliding glass panels are heavy: a standard panel can weigh well over 100 pounds, and impact-rated panels weigh much more. Never try this alone. If your door is impact glass, very tall, or on an upper floor balcony, call a pro.
Steps
Remove the screen door first
If there is a sliding screen outside, lift it out so it does not get in the way.
Find the head stop
At the top of the frame on the inside, there is often a strip or bracket that keeps the panel from lifting out. Unscrew and remove it.
Lower the rollers fully
Use the adjustment screws to drop the rollers all the way. This gives the panel more room to lift.
Lift and tilt with a helper
With one person at each end, lift the panel straight up into the top channel, then swing the bottom toward you to clear the track.
Set it down safely
Lay the panel on padded blocks or a blanket, on its edge or flat, never leaning loose against a wall.
Reinstall in reverse
Top first into the channel, then lower the bottom onto the rail. Raise the rollers, refit the head stop and test.

Impact glass, oversized panels, upper-floor balconies or a panel that will not lift easily: stop and call a pro. Broken tempered glass is dangerous.
